In August 2025, Google introduced a global Spam Update that took about 27 days to fully implement.

Spam updates usually aim to address issues such as cloaking, doorway abuse, expired domain misuse, hacked content, hidden text and link exploitation, keyword stuffing, link spam, and other spam tactics.

It’s wise to periodically revisit Google’s Spam Policies for Search, which you can find here:

If you’re managing a website or creating online content, staying up to date with these policies is really helpful. The SEO landscape is constantly changing, and by keeping an eye on Google’s updates, you can make sure your site remains compliant and performs well in search results. Whether you’re new to SEO or have years of experience, taking a little time now and then to review the latest guidelines can save you trouble down the road.
